This article is part of our series on How To Choose The Best Massage School For You.
When selecting a massage school, one of the first steps is to consider the location of the schools you are researching.
If you want to find a school in or near your town, consider what length of commute you are willing to do to attend school and search for any massage schools within that distance. Your search will likely be between just a few local schools in your area.
If you are willing to relocate to attend massage school, your search will be much more broad. It will be important to figure out what the main factors that you are looking for are so that you can find schools that meet this criteria.
The requirements to become a Licensed Massage Therapist are different in every state. If you are considering a school outside your state, make sure that it will meet the necessary requirements for licensure in your home state and any states you may want to work in after graduation.
Questions to Ask:
- How long is the commute to the school?
- Does the school meet the licensing requirements for the state(s) you want to practice in?
