How Much Is Tuition for Massage School?

If you're considering a career in massage therapy, chances are you're worried about money. How much will it cost to get through school, will you have loans, and how much will you make after you're graduated? These questions are totally normal for any prospective student - especially the one about cost of your studies! If you're wondering how much massage school tuition will run you, read for some details.

According to Natural Healers, massage therapy school costs an average of $9 to $17 per hour of instruction. And based on the fact that different schools in different states have varying requirements for how many hours you must spend in study, this can mean that tuition will vary widely. Still, most states require around 500 hours of instruction, making your total cost somewhere around $5000 at the bare minimum, with a possibility of up to $10,000 or more. Because massage school is usually a fairly quick program (less than a year to two years), the good news is you'll only have to pay tuition for a short time.

The bad news? Well, there really isn't any! Because massage therapy - and thus, massage school - is inherently flexible, you are free to make the financial choices that work best for you. This could mean choosing a school with low tuition, moving to a state where fewer hours are required, going part-time to massage school, or applying for financial aid at your chosen institution.

You should do lots of research on tuition, fees, financial aid, scholarships and more before deciding on a massage school or training program. It's important to be upfront about what level of tuition you can afford, as well as what amount of debt (if any!) you are willing to take on. Different people have different financial concerns, so make sure you speak to administrators or aid reps at schools to make sure the choice you're making is right for you.
